Bad at finishing memes, JoBros Adventure and future awesome

I stopped the "30 Days..." thing at day 15. I got stuck and am still stuck on day 16

a song that you used to love but now hate

I don't think there is one of these, but there HAS to be. But all those crappy songs? I still love them.

So instead I will talk about other things.

JOBROS!!!!

I went and saw the Jonas Brothers in concert. My dear friend ElleVee asked for every detail.

(holy crap random celebrity cameos!! DAVID CARRADINE? DANNY TREIJO?? REALLY? Yes really.)

Since the show, which was a week ago, I have had this song stuck in my head. It was the last one they played and one of like 4 or 5 (SHAME) that I actually knew. Its like a hit or something.

The tickets were free at the last minute. My office is above the Boston area office for Radio Disney. They are awesome people and I consider some friends. They gave me the tickets since I had made it known previously my friend Erin LOOOOVES the JoBros. This is another reason I know some songs. REALLY!! So I got a last minute email that they had some tickets and asked if i wanted some. A few phone calls later we were on our way. Scared.

Well, it wasn't too scary. Tween girls are ok and too wrapped up in OMGNICKJOEKEVIN!!!! to be too annoying. THERE WAS AMAZING SCREAMING LIKE I HAVE NEVER HEARD. I was too old and WAY too cool for NKOTB so I had never seen anything like this. It was insane.

As far as the Jonas' they seem like very nice boys. I also enjoy people who have a sense of humor about who they are and what they do. These boys have it. I am convinced that is one of the things that makes you last in The Fame Machine.

The other is talent. They actually have some of that too. Two of them play instruments, one plays like a million of them. The songs are cute and catchy. Honestly I am curious and borderline exited to see what they can do with a few years and out of the influence of Pixy Dust.

So yes, I saw the Jonas Brothers. I have also seen Slayer. Wanna fight about it?

Eventually I will be able to complete Day 16 continuing the 30 days but today is not that day.

30 Days of Music Day Fifteen: A Song That Describes You: 4 Non-Blondes ~ Spaceman

I am way behind on this. 4 days to be exact. This week is busy, getting ready for vacation is hard. I also saw Adam Lambert which was awesome. And as much as I wish I could use one of his songs for this one I really can't (I am tempted to use "Sure Fire Winners" here, ha!)

This song.

From the first time I heard it was "my" song. It was when 4 Non Blondes was just having a hit with that other song everyone knows. I was 18 years old. Not saying that I haven't changed much since I was 18 but this song still feels like me.

Linda Perry is an amazing songwriter. Thank you Pink for bringing her back into music.

30 Days of Music Day Fourteen: A Song That No One Would Expect You to Love: Snoop Dogg ~ Gin & Juice

lol at his mic
I need more diamond encrusted pot leaves in my life
Starting NOW

LOVE THIS SONG!

I am not much of a hip hop person, but I think Snoops first album is AMAZING.

this question was hard, I am pretty open about what I listen to no matter how embarrassing (see day 13) but I don't really let people know that I enjoy some hip hop. I think mostly because I know so little of it since I think a lot of it is LAME.

Snoop rules though

30 Days of Music Day Thirteen: A Song That is a Guilty Pleasure: Jessica Simpson ~ A Public Affair & Ashlee Simpson ~ Outta My Head

I have no excuse. I am a Simpson Sister fan. I want to be their BFF and make them rebel against their dad and drink wine coolers and talk about boys.

They record great pop songs.
Whatever... pretend you don't LOVE it you know you do.

30 Days of Music Day Twelve: A Song By a Band You Hate: Papa Roach ~ Scars (Acoustic)

HATE is a strong word. I dislike this band . I LOVE this song, only acoustic though. Weird.

I think this way the feeling is more evident. I hate this nu metal crap. It's one of the few kinds of music I don't like AT ALL (the other being reggae). But yep, love this song.

30 Days of Music Day Eleven: day 11 - A Song From Your Favorite Band

Hard one. Like favorite song this one changes. I have already picked some of my favorites for others. I am torn now between two groups from Minneapolis. I think I will pick them BOTH!!

The Replacements ~ Bastards of Young

I wanted to post "The Ledge" but there were no good videos of it. Go find it and listen to it, one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The Replacements are responsible for so much music I listen to now. I feel still like they do not get the credit they deserve for being AMAZING.

True story. I met Paul Westerberg about 4 hours into a 24 hour bug. I was SO RUDE to him. I was carrying a Lenore lunchbox (since I am a mature adult!) and he was using it to lean on to sign my ticket. He asked if he could sign that instead and I said no THAT I LIKED IT TOO MUCH. TO PAUL FUCKING WESTERBERG!! My punishment is that the puking started about 2 hours later and did not stop until the next day.

One day I will meet Roman Dirge and have HIM sign said lunchbox and tell him this.

Soul Asylum ~ Cartoon

Something about Minneapolis makes you the most amazing song writers EVER (Hello PRINCE!!) When I was about 17 I decided that Dave Pirner needed to be my boyfriend forever (he's not sadly). I got to see them last year for my birthday and it was awesome. I have not met them, even though I have had a few chances. I feel like this is a good thing since I would most likely turn into a idiot just telling them all how much I love them over and over.

no one needs that.

30 Days of Music Day Ten: A Song That Makes You Fall Asleep: Sepultura ~ Arise

no really.

I broke myself of needing to sleep to music in my 20's it was a good thing

THIS is what I would listen to at bedtime. Seriously. I think it's the rhythm on the drums and bass that I found soothing.

Maybe this is a good time for us to discuss my ADHD, the fact I rarely sleep and also how I find NYC calming. No really I do.

I also like death metal to sleep

30 Days of Music Day Nine: A Song That You Can Dance To : Ok Go ~ White Knuckles

I don't dance

This song makes me dance, this BAND makes me dance

this video? cracks my shit up

this song also reminds me of HS even though I was already over 25 when it came out

and Franks's face makes me smile.

I love this band

30 Days of Music Days Six and Seven: A Song That Reminds of You of Somewhere & of a Certain Event: Gary Wright ~ Dream Weaver

So I am a few days behind...

Luckily these two days I was thinking the same song for.

Awwww... yeah Dream Weaver. It reminds me of my Senior Prom and Salisbury Beach.

I only went to my Jr. Prom. It was awful. I went to the prom because since we all know you HAVE to go to the prom since if you don't you will feel like something is missing your whole life. So I went, it was terrible.

So the next year the night of my senior prom I went to the beach with some friends. We ended up at the club we were ALWAYS at and this song played. It is one of the few things I remember from that night. We MAY have taken some drugs that night.

since today was supposed to be Day Eight I might do that later.

30 Days of Music Day Four: A Song That Reminds You of Someone: Concrete Blonde ~ ...Long Time Ago

this one has no story to protect the innocent

I didn't know they used this for the finale of The Shield. One of my Top 5 Bands of all time.

30 Days of Music Day Four: A Song That Makes You Sad: Butch Walker ~ ATL

Butch Walker. It took 4 days before I got to you. I am a little shocked, but also I was trying.

And OF COURSE it’s this day.

This song has made me cry almost every time I hear it. Which can be a little embarrassing when in a club watching Mr. Walker. (who I might add was VERY nice the time I almost started crying talking to him about ANOTHER song of his that makes me cry, he’s really the best ever PERIOD, your argument is invalid)

Here’s the story on why it’s this one:

(please note not ALL the words to this song are directly related to this story, but yeah the whole song does me in)

About 10 years ago both of my brothers moved to Georgia. One for work the other because he joined the Army. My brothers are smart, too smart. Because of this they get into EPIC amounts of trouble. The time in Georgia led to much trouble, much crying on my part and a lot of me concerned I would be one brother short by the end of all of it.

At this time stopped watching news programs since I substituted sleep for CNN and would often wake boyfriend up crying at 5 AM. I started to understand that even though things for me were not that great and shiny it could be worse and was. I understood finally what it meant to be the older sister. Even though my brothers drove me crazy I still loved them more than anything and would do anything to make sure they were safe and happy.

This song named for the city Butch loves so much brings so many of the feelings from this time back. Even as I type this I get teary… I am sitting at work. Like I said embarrassing.

As a happy ending (not that kind pervs) both of my brothers are great. All these crazy things have turned them BOTH into amazing men who I am proud to be big sister to.

30 Days of Music Day Three: A Song That Makes You Happy: Rufus Wainwright ~ Between My Legs

tomorrow I am not going to have a chance to do this so I am going to write and post this now. It was only 12 hours between the last 2 anyway.

The reason I will not be able to do this tomorrow (besides that stupid JOB thing I have to do) I that I am seeing Rufus Wainwright play. In honor of that here is todays song:

lol, Jake Gyllenhaal

Rufus makes me happy in general. The first time I heard this song was live so I wanted to use a live version. Which as always in his case is as flawless as the recording. You should love Rufus.

I remember I saw his photograph in Interview Magazine (which I subscribed to for YEARS mainly to just look at the pictures). Those who know me know I am a sucker for a pretty boy, even more if he's a pretty GAY boy. I am a sad stereotype that way. ANYWAY I picked up "Poses" which was the new album at the time, his second. BRILLIANT. I was hooked.

Most people only know Rufus from his soundtrack covers, but there is so much more. Pick up/buy a few songs. The one above & "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk" are a couple of my favorites. But any will do. Listen to the recording he did to mirror a VERY famous Judy Garland concert in NYC. BRILLIANT!!!!

I can't explain these very well can I?

ahhhh Judy

30 Days of Music Day Two Your Least Favorite Song: American Pie

It's sad that this might be the easiest one of all 30. But dislike/hate is a very strong feeling.

I hate this song. It fills me with fiery rage. What's the point? And someone ALWAYS sings it at karaoke and it's TOO LONG for that.

Anyway, hate hate hate this song. I hate this version the most since it was the beginning of the end for me and Madonna.

Not so close second: Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash

30 Days of Music Day One: Your Favorite Song: Drive By ~ The Day That You Decide

How does one pick their favorite song? Is it something that reminds you of a certain person or place? Or brings on a feeling so strong? Laughter, tears, anger, all three.

The answer is yes to all of these

I find it hard to believe that anyone has an all time favorite song. Mine changes all the time. Depending on what I am going through at that time. According to the amount of times I have played it on my iTunes/iPod it's this song, so I am going to go with that

Sorry to my LDB girls that I didn't use one of the live videos, I needed the recorded version for this I think.

So according to my electronics I have listened to this song 41 times. I first found out about Drive By the way many others did through the My Chemical Romance fandom. I picked up the first album and really enjoyed it. Then I got lucky and saw them open for them in Philadelphia. This in it's self was a stroke of luck. Nikki and I hit crazy traffic on our way to Philly and missed them the first of the two nights they were there. Somehow I had managed to get CHEAP tickets off eBay for the second night and caught them that night and was IN LOVE. I bought the new CD added them to all my show stalking lists so I could make sure I saw them again. Which I did... a lot. I met some great people who I now consider great friends through all this too.

ANYWAY that is more about why I love Drive By and not why I love this song. That is harder to put into words. Actually no, it IS the words to this song. I heard it at a time I NEEDED to hear it. Things were weird and crappy and it was one of those times where I felt like my deep dark thoughts were amazingly put into song. I wish there were specific things I could say or quote from it but I can't it's the whole thing. Honestly one of the most amazing songs ever. Thanks guys!

(I listened to it 4 more times while I typed this)

PS: The next most listened to is at 30 plays, just to give it some perspective

30 Days of Music: Intro!

So there is this amazing blog I read The Hidden Mix Tape. I am a big fan of music and love anything and anyone that gives me new things to listen to.

Over the last few days this meme popped up on this blog, along with the other regular entries. Now variations of this are ALL over the web but I like the non-specific nature of this. While I am sure LOTS of MCR and Butch Walker will be on this it's not the whole focus.

So let us begin!
